Lidl is launching a £4.99 countdown nutcracker this Sunday (November 8) that bears a striking resemblance to a £64.95 version sold at Harrods, offering shoppers a budget-friendly festive alternative.
The Livarno Countdown Nutcracker arrives as part of the supermarket's second significant wave of indoor 'Christmas Décor' in its Middle Aisle update, with 51 days remaining until Christmas Day. Lidl describes the ornament as a "traditional nutcracker figure made from hand-painted wood".
Key Features of the Lidl Nutcracker
The figurine contains 100% FSC-certified wood, is free-standing, measures 35cm in height, and is for indoor use only. Shoppers can choose from three nutcracker designs, including a Bear Nutcracker and a Traditional Cracker.
Harrods is stocking a Kurt S Adler Nutcracker Calendar Ornament priced at £64.95. The product description on the Harrods website reads: "Crafted from wood, this Kurt S Adler ornament introduces the classic figure into your decor repertoire and also features a calendar to make the countdown to the big day that little bit more enchanting."
Comparing the Two Nutcrackers
The Lidl and Harrods nutcrackers share a near-identical festive design concept. Both are traditional, hand-painted wooden figures standing on a red platform, holding a green 'Days 'til Christmas' countdown block. They feature matching details, including bright blue eyes, a black moustache, a white fluffy beard, a red jacket, gold shoulder detailing, round wooden hands, white trousers and black boots.
However, each sports different headwear. While Lidl's red platform is round, the Harrods version features a square base. The Harrods nutcracker is marginally larger at approximately 40.5cm in height, while the Lidl version is smaller at 35cm. Additionally, the Harrods nutcracker is available as a single premium designer piece, while Lidl sells its countdown style as part of a three-piece set.
Other Middle of Lidl Deals
The supermarket is also due to make another Middle of Lidl refresh this Thursday (November 5), featuring festive decorations including ornaments and lights. One standout bargain is the Livarno Christmas Wreath (£5.99). Department store John Lewis has a selection of wreaths on offer, including its Mini Poinsettia Christmas Wreath priced at £20, which includes "vibrant poinsettia and festive berries" in a traditional red tone, surrounded by green pine-effect foliage.
