Lefties opens first southern UK store at Lakeside

Lefties, the international fashion chain owned by the Inditex Group, will open its first store in the south of England at Lakeside Shopping Centre on Thursday, October 29. The store marks the brand's second UK location, following its debut in Liverpool earlier this year.

New store details at Lakeside

The new Lefties store will be situated on Level 2, Central Atrium, at the Essex shopping centre. It will offer the brand's full range, including Woman, Man, Teen, Girl, Boy, Baby, and Newborn lines, with clothing, footwear, and accessories collections.

The store will also feature the HOME Collection, which extends the brand's identity into home textiles, décor, fragrances, and functional environment items. It joins other recent openings at Lakeside, including Hollister, Urban Outfitters, and Space NK.

Brand expansion and background

Nancy Foster, Centre Director at Lakeside Shopping Centre, said: "Lefties is one of the most exciting fashion arrivals of the year, and we’re proud that Lakeside will be home to its first store in the South. From fashion and footwear to children's wear and homeware, it is a brand with something for everyone."

"Its arrival gives our visitors another major reason to look again at Lakeside and spend the day, discover something new and update their Autumn Winter wardrobes."

Retail context

Lefties operates hundreds of stores across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, including in Mexico, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Morocco, and Tunisia. The brand was originally launched in 1999 as an outlet for leftover Zara stock.

The expansion comes as other high street brands, including River Island, Poundland, and New Look, have recently closed several UK locations amid changing consumer habits and rising operational costs. Lefties' Liverpool store, which opened in September, spans 50,000 square feet across two floors and occupies two previously empty units.
