A cleaning expert on social media has shared a simple method for keeping kitchen cabinets free of grease and fingerprints, using washing up liquid that costs as little as 64p at Asda.
TikToker @neals_k has been promoting the benefits of washing up liquid for maintaining a spotless kitchen. She says a basic bottle of washing up liquid is all that is needed to keep cabinets clean for longer, making it a budget-friendly option for those looking to save money.
Five tips for a clean kitchen
She shared five tips that have helped her maintain a clean kitchen, with the washing up liquid hack being the standout recommendation. The method requires a bowl, water, washing up liquid and two clean microfibre cloths.
She said: "For kitchen cabinets that are usually full of grease and fingerprints, grab a bowl, some water, washing up liquid and two clean microfibre cloths. One for cleaning and one for drying."
How to apply the method
Pour a few drops of washing up liquid into a bowl, top it up with warm water, then submerge one of the cloths before wringing it out until it is damp rather than soaking wet. Beginning at the top, start wiping down the kitchen cupboards, using circular motions to tackle any stubborn grease or fingerprint marks, and gradually working downwards.
Repeat this process across all of the kitchen cupboards. Depending on the type of surface finish, the technique can equally be applied to drawers. Once everything is thoroughly cleaned, take the second microfibre cloth and go back over the surfaces to dry them off, leaving them spotless once more.
No dreaded swirl
Emphasising how effective the tip is, Neal added: "I find that this method doesn't give me the dreaded swirl."
