Insomnia Cookies, the US-based late-night cookie chain, opens its Newcastle city centre location on Saturday at 1pm. The store, located in the former Caffe Nero building near The Gate, has been transformed with neon signage and bright colours. Founded in 2003 by Seth Berkowitz as a college student snack venture, the brand now operates over 350 bakeries across North America and has expanded to UK cities including Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Sheffield and Nottingham.
Late-Night Opening Hours and Delivery
What sets Insomnia Cookies apart from existing dessert options in Newcastle is its opening hours; it is expected to be open as late as 3am, making it a sought-after spot for late-night sweet cravings. The store will also offer delivery service, allowing customers to get cookies without leaving home.
Grand Opening Event and Freebies
The official opening at 1pm on Saturday will feature free cookies for all guests. The first person in queue will win a year's supply of Insomnia cookies, and the first 50 customers will receive an exclusive Insomnia merch bag. As night falls, the event will showcase the brand's late-night hours with a live DJ, cookie samplers working the queue, and more free cookies. The 500th and 1000th transactions of the night will also win a year's supply of cookies.
According to ChronicleLive, which toured the store last week, the opening is expected to draw large queues, reflecting the brand's popularity in the US and other UK cities.
