A return visit to IKEA's restaurant to try its Full English breakfast, priced at £3.95, has left one customer impressed by the value and flavour, despite a few minor criticisms.
A Childhood Favourite Revisited
Holly Kintuka, an Audience Writer for the Daily Express, decided to revisit IKEA's breakfast offerings after recalling fond childhood memories of morning family trips to the store. She drove to her nearest branch to see if the breakfast lived up to her recollections.
The regular Full English breakfast included two sausages, two hash browns, two rashers of bacon, an omelette, half a tomato and beans. Kintuka also picked up a bread roll, a cinnamon bun, some butter and a glass of blackcurrant juice, bringing the total to £7.30.
Highs and Lows of the Meal
Kintuka praised the omelette and hash browns, describing both as "10 out of 10". The hash browns were crispy and cooked to perfection, while the omelette was soft and fluffy. The bacon was not to her taste, though she noted this was a personal preference rather than a fault of the kitchen.
However, the sausages were "not that great" in her opinion, which she found annoying as sausages are a main component of a Full English. She also observed that the portion of beans was quite small compared to the number of items on the plate, leaving her wanting more to enjoy with everything.
Drinks and Overall Verdict
In terms of drinks, some of the fridges were not working, so her options were limited. She ended up grabbing a drink from the dispenser, which offered mostly fizzy drinks, with blackcurrant juice being one of the few non-carbonated options.
Despite the criticisms, Kintuka said she would definitely go again, citing great value for money and a decent selection of breakfast options. The restaurant also serves breakfast rolls, pastries, fruit salads and more. She spotted a tiramisu that looked incredible but decided to save it for another visit.
Overall, she enjoyed her return to IKEA's breakfast table, concluding that the breakfast was delicious, filling and incredibly affordable. IKEA serves breakfast until 11am at selected branches, and it is worth checking online if your local branch is a participating location.
