Greggs has brought back its Festive Bake for the Christmas season, but some customers are unhappy that the Steak and Stilton Bake has been taken off the menu. The national bakery chain, which has almost 2,800 branches across the UK, launched its festive menu this week, including the seasonal favourite with a "new and improved recipe".
Festive Bake Returns With New Recipe
A Facebook post by Newfoodsuk, which highlights new food launches across the UK, revealed the return of the Festive Bake. The post shows a sandwich board outside a Greggs branch advertising the item as "our best ever Festive Bake", priced "from £2.50".
Describing the item, Greggs' website says: "The Festive Bake is back and better than ever and we're brave enough to say it: turkey can get stuffed. We've been proudly filling our Festive Bakes with superiorly soft, more moist chicken since 2009 and, this year, we're not backing down."
The website adds: "Cooked chicken, smoked ham hock, and sweetcure bacon with soft cheese and pork, sage and onion stuffing in a creamy sage and cranberry sauce, wrapped in glazed puff pastry with a crumb topping. The Greggs Festive Bake - hands down the most Christmassy thing about Christmas."
Customers Call for Steak and Stilton
While some were pleased to see the Festive Bake back, others expressed disappointment that it appeared to have replaced another item. One person said: "Bring back Steak and Stilton! Please." Another wrote: "Bring back the steak and stilton, miles better." A third commented: "Wish they kept the steak and stilton."
Greggs Responds to Fans
A Greggs spokesperson addressed the concerns, saying: "Our Steak and Stilton Bake is currently taking a break, but fans can rest assured it will return at a later date. In the meantime, we've welcomed our Christmas menu into shops this week, including the iconic Festive Bake."
