Greggs is bringing breakfast to dinner time in selected Scottish stores for two days next week. On October 14 and 15, customers can buy bacon, sausage or omelette rolls from 4pm to 7pm at four stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The limited-time event, called "brinner", is a collaboration with Heinz. Rolls will be served with a squeeze of Heinz Tomato Ketchup or HP Sauce.
Which Scottish stores are taking part
In Edinburgh, the Princes Mall and Castle Street stores are included. In Glasgow, the Gordon Street and Central Station stores are taking part.
The event will be available at 20 Greggs shops across the UK, four of which are in Scotland.
Why Greggs and Heinz launched brinner
The move follows a survey that found 61 per cent of Brits want to eat breakfast for dinner. Greggs customer director Zoe Harris said: "We've lost count of the number of customers who have tried their luck ordering breakfast after 11am, so when Heinz came to us with the idea of making Brinner a reality, it felt like the perfect excuse to give the people what they want."
Heinz away from home director Tom Franklin said: "Brits love breakfast foods and, for most of us, Heinz is a key part of that meal. With mornings becoming increasingly rushed, we're over the moon to be working with Greggs to bring their iconic breakfast menu back in time for dinner. Because frankly, if you fancy a bacon roll with a dollop of Heinz Tomato Ketchup at 6pm, why shouldn't you have one?"
Sauce preferences revealed
The survey also asked Brits whether red or brown sauce is the best match for a breakfast roll. It found that 50 per cent prefer tomato sauce on a bacon roll, while 39 per cent favour HP sauce.
Scots who want to enjoy breakfast staples for tea will need to visit the selected stores between 4pm and 7pm on October 14 and 15.
