The much-loved Gateshead bakery Savour is set to open a branch inside Newcastle's famous Fenwick department store this week. The bakery, which first opened on Coatsworth Road in Bensham at the end of 2024, quickly became a word-of-mouth success, often selling out and drawing queues down the street.
Expansion to Fenwick
Savour broke the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday morning. The post read: "Some dreams are worth waiting for. Ever since we opened Savour, we have dreamed of one day being inside Fenwick. Looking back now, it almost feels like it was always meant to happen."
The post continued: "Fenwick and Savour share the same belief, craftsmanship over shortcuts, quality over compromise, and creating experiences people never forget. It is not just about selling products, it is about creating something special."
Owner's Vision
Owner Josh Freudiger, who along with his mother has become social media famous through their videos, also runs brunch spot Omnivor a few doors down from Savour. He added: "This is only the beginning. We have so much planned together over the coming months, and we genuinely cannot wait to take you all on the journey with us. Thank you to everyone who has supported us from day one. This would never have happened without you."
Savour has attracted customers from as far afield as Ponteland and County Durham, and has received calls to open in both London and New York. However, the Fenwick expansion keeps things closer to home.
