Flash vs Fabulosa Floor Cleaner Test: Flash Wins for Shine and Scent
Flash vs Fabulosa: Which Floor Cleaner Wins?

I tested two of the UK's most popular floor cleaners — Flash All-Purpose Cleaner and Fabulosa Concentrated Disinfectant Cleaner — to see which performed better on my laminate floors. Flash emerged as the winner, leaving a shinier finish and a more pleasant scent.

Testing Method

I split my living room in half, using Flash on one side and Fabulosa on the other. Flash cost £2.25 for a one-litre bottle from Heron, while Fabulosa was £1 for a 220ml bottle. Flash's instructions called for two caps (60ml) in five litres of water; Fabulosa recommended one cap in 400ml of water, but I used two caps in 800ml to cover the area.

Flash: Strong Lemon Scent and Immediate Shine

Flash produced a powerful lemon fragrance that was fresh and clean, though perhaps better suited to kitchens and bathrooms. It foamed well and applied easily, delivering an immediate shine. The scent was pleasant without being overwhelming.

Fabulosa: Intense Cotton Fresh Scent but Patchy Coverage

Fabulosa's cotton fresh fragrance was much stronger than Flash's, with a warning against use in food areas and to keep pets away from wet surfaces. It also produced a shine, but I noticed dry patches after mopping, likely due to less water in the bucket. It did not foam as effectively as Flash.

Results: Flash Wins for Shine and Scent

After drying, Flash left my floor noticeably shinier and fresher. Fabulosa's scent remained overpowering even with windows open, and the pet restriction was problematic for my cat. Both cleaned effectively, but Flash's longer-lasting bottle and superior performance made it my preferred choice.
