A family of ten is being sought by police after allegedly walking out of a pub in Usk, south Wales, without paying their £320 bill. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at the Greyhound Inn, leaving landlady Kelly Jollife furious but overwhelmed by local support.
Mrs Jollife claims each diner ordered a starter and a main course, ate everything, but then refused to pay for the food, offering only £44 for their drinks. She said they “barged past” chefs before departing in two cars. The 49-year-old landlady described the act as “brazen” and “selfish”.
Gwent Police confirmed they are investigating an allegation of theft. A force spokesperson said: “We're investigating an allegation of theft in Usk Road, Llantrisant, which occurred around 3pm on Sunday 27 July. Officers are speaking to several people to establish the circumstances and enquiries continue.”
Mrs Jollife shared details of the incident on Facebook, aiming to “embarrass” those involved. She said the response had been “phenomenal” and that the community had been very supportive. The pub, a traditional country pub in the Usk Valley, is known for its popular Sunday lunches.
