A 'real fairytale treehouse' in Fife has been named the Daily Record's latest Airbnb of the Week, offering a late-summer getaway in idyllic surroundings. The one-bedroom holiday home is set within its own private garden and woodland, near majestic trees up to 300 years old.

Location and features

The property is located within the grounds of the 14th-century Fernie Castle and is immediately surrounded by six living trees that are 'growing and thriving'. Described by Airbnb as having 'all the amenities of five-star' accommodation, the interior features natural materials and furnishings. The living space includes a TV, DVD player, and radio, while the kitchen area has a microwave, kettle, plates, cutlery, and a welcome basket of goodies.

Unique amenities

On the second floor, guests find a large freestanding bathtub and a small balcony with countryside views. The bed is described by the owners as 'unique' and 'luxury', with quirky decorations throughout. A one-night stay for two in August can be booked for approximately £200.

The treehouse has an overall visitor rating of 4.95 out of five based on feedback from 121 guests. It is a 'guest favourite', meaning it ranks in the top 10 per cent of eligible listings for ratings, reviews, and reliability. One guest said: 'It truly was a real fairytale treehouse and a magical stay! We loved the small touches throughout the two-floored treehouse. Bathtub with views over farmer's fields was unsurpassed!' Another added: 'It was also such a cosy and comfortable space. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. Highly recommend.'
