Evans Returns to Scotland: Plus-Size Fashion Brand Opens in 3 Stores
Evans Returns to Scotland with Three New Stores

Popular fashion firm Evans is making a comeback to Scotland after closing all its shops six years ago. The brand, once a staple on the high street, will now be available in over 30 Yours Clothing stores across the UK, with three locations in Scotland.

Evans Returns to Scottish High Streets

The clothing brand, established in 1930, was a leading name in plus-size fashion, operating more than 300 stores at its peak. However, in 2020, it ceased physical operations and became an online-only retailer. Now, under the ownership of AK Retail, which also owns Yours Clothing, Evans will be stocked as a concession in selected stores.

Scottish Locations

The three Scottish stores receiving an Evans concession are:

  • Braehead Shopping Centre near Glasgow
  • Thistles shopping centre in Stirling

These stores will offer ranges including dresses, tops, trousers, and occasion-wear, staffed by teams who understand the plus-size customer.

History of Evans

Evans was founded in 1930 by Jack Green. It became a market leader for women size 14 and over by 1988, with celebrity endorsements from Beth Ditto and Adele. It was part of Sir Phillip Green's Arcadia Group, which entered administration in November 2020. Evans was then sold to Australian retailer City Chic Collective for £23 million, but physical stores were closed. In 2023, AK Retail acquired the brand.
