Costa Coffee is set to open a third branch in Newcastle's Eldon Square, taking over the premises previously occupied by rival chain Starbucks. The new store will be located at the top of the escalators near the Clayton Street entrance, just along from the Next store that opened last year.
The move adds to Costa's existing presence in the shopping centre, which already includes a branch opposite Millie's Cookies on the upper level and another next to Eldon Square Bus Station. The new location will create 15 jobs and will be the first in the city centre to feature Costa's latest store design.
Expansion in Newcastle
Costa was founded by brothers Bruno and Sergio Costa in 1971, with the first shop opening in London a decade later. The brand expanded significantly around the turn of the millennium, opening outlets across the UK and overseas, including in Dubai. It has been a staple of Newcastle's food and drink scene for years.
The new branch is scheduled to open in November, ahead of the festive season. Customers will be able to enjoy Costa's Christmas menu, including the new Golden Hazel Latte with Ferrero Rocher, alongside seasonal food, gifts and returning festive favourites.

Food and Drink Line-Up
The opening joins Eldon Square's growing line-up of food and drink destinations, including The Alchemist, Chaophraya, Smashburger and Dave’s Hot Chicken, offering visitors plenty of choice when shopping, meeting friends or making a day of it in Newcastle.
