At 35 years old, Welbeck enjoyed a resurgence last season, netting 14 goals and providing two assists in all competitions for Brighton. His performances have caught the attention of Chelsea's hierarchy, who have started talks to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Current Striking Options
While Joao Pedro registered 15 goals and eight assists in the Premier League last season, Liam Delap struggled, scoring just once in 28 appearances, raising questions about his future at the club. The potential signing of Welbeck would add experience and depth to Chelsea's forward line.
Brighton declined to comment when contacted about the negotiations.
