Fromm Family Foods has issued a recall for 300 cases of its Bonnihill Farms BeefiBowls Beef Recipe frozen dog food after receiving complaints of plastic contamination. The recall was announced on Wednesday.
The company warned that dogs consuming the contaminated food could suffer adverse reactions, including gastrointestinal upset and a risk of intestinal obstruction if large amounts of plastic are ingested. Symptoms may include vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or stomach discomfort.
As of Wednesday, no reports of illness or injury related to the recall have been made. The affected product has a best-by date of December 25, 2026, and was sold in pet stores across 14 US states, including Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, and California.
Fromm Family Foods stated it has identified the error and implemented corrective actions to prevent future incidents. Owners are advised to stop feeding the recalled food to their dogs and return it to the place of purchase.
The Independent has contacted Fromm Family Foods for further comment. This recall follows a recent recall of cheese products by Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc. due to potential metal contamination, which was reclassified as Class II by the FDA.
