Boden has launched a trainer swap promotion offering savings of up to 50% for online shoppers. The deal allows customers to exchange their old trainers for discounted new pairs, as part of the brand's early January sales push.
The offer comes as retailers across the UK slash prices on a huge range of products online this Super Saturday. Major chains like Currys and Boots are also offering significant discounts, with Currys cutting a Lenovo laptop by 38% and Boots knocking 50% off many cosmetics.
An estimated 15 million shoppers are expected to spend £1.37 billion today, according to a study by Voucher.Codes.co.uk. Of these, 11.6 million are predicted to visit physical stores, spending £1.06 billion, while 3.4 million will make online purchases totalling £310 million.
Lisa Hooker, consumer expert at PwC, noted that Christmas still comes down to the wire for retailers, and the likelihood of bumper Boxing Day sales to clear seasonal stock will increase if consumers are not persuaded to spend more than planned this weekend.
Analysts at MRI Software predict in-store spending to be 5% lower than last December 23, as Saturday is traditionally the most popular day for travel before Christmas.
