B&M is set to open eight new stores across the UK before Christmas, continuing its expansion as one of the country's biggest discount retailers. Shoppers in London, Essex, Greater Manchester, and several other areas will get new branches in the coming weeks.
Five stores opening in late November
Five of the eight stores are scheduled to open across just two days at the end of November, with new branches planned in England, Scotland, and Wales. Among the largest openings is a 34,741 sq ft store in Colchester, Essex, which will take over a former Wilko site and welcome its first customers on November 28.
That same day, new stores will also open in Kingswinford, West Midlands, and Stirling, Scotland. On November 27, shoppers on the Isle of Wight will get a new B&M at Newport Retail Park, while another branch opens in Middleton, Greater Manchester.
London and Wales openings
Before those, customers in London will be the first to receive one of the eight stores. A B&M at The Oaks Shopping Centre in Acton, west London, is due to open on October 24. That will be followed by a branch in Newtown, Powys, on November 7.
The last of the announced stores will open in Southport, Merseyside, on December 3.
Continued expansion
B&M has more than 700 stores across the UK and over 35,000 employees, selling everything from food and cleaning products to homeware. The latest openings come during a busy period for the retailer, which has already opened or relocated stores in places including Carmarthen, Plymstock, and Waltham Cross, while also refurbishing existing branches.
Stores in Nottinghamshire and Leicester are among those to have undergone improvement work. Expansion is set to continue after Christmas, with further stores planned for next year. One will be in Bedlington, Northumberland, where a new 19,000 sq ft B&M superstore is planned as part of the town centre's redevelopment, with work expected to continue into 2027.
