Blue Lagoon, the Scottish fish and chip restaurant chain that counts global megastar Justin Bieber among its fans, is set to open its first Newcastle venue this coming Friday, October 16. The new 96-seater restaurant will open its doors at 12 noon, taking over the site of the former Dicksons flagship store on Grainger Street, which closed last year.
A Scottish Favourite Arrives in Newcastle
Having established itself as a firm favourite north of the border, Blue Lagoon has moved into the premises that for years housed the legendary North East brand Dicksons, known for its saveloy dips and sandwiches. Earlier this year, billboards for Blue Lagoon appeared in the city, offering teasers of its extensive menu, which includes pizza crunch (deep fried pizza) and chips, deep fried black pudding and chips, battered haggis, and battered Mars bar, a delicacy in Scotland.
Justin Bieber's Favourite Order
It was at one of Blue Lagoon's many Scottish chippies that Justin Bieber, the singer behind hits like "Love Yourself" and "Sorry," tucked into battered haggis, washed down with Irn Bru. Fans can follow in his footsteps by ordering the same dish when the Newcastle branch opens.
Maritime-Themed Interior and Anticipated Queues
A video shared on Blue Lagoon's Instagram has given a sneak peek inside the new restaurant, revealing a maritime theme with fish murals on the walls and pirate ship-style gangways. Given the queues seen at the opening of Mother Hubbard's chippy in August, there is likely to be significant demand when Blue Lagoon launches. Excitement is building, with one Instagram user commenting, "Amazing so glad to see you are finally opening," and another adding, "See you soon!"
