Sixes, a cricket-themed entertainment chain backed by England cricketer Ben Stokes, has entered administration. The company, which operates 16 venues across England, cited challenging trading conditions and reduced consumer spending as reasons for the collapse.
As a result, its Southampton site will close immediately. However, administrators FRP Advisory confirmed that all other venues will remain open while they seek potential rescue deals. Future bookings will be honoured.
FRP Advisory, appointed on Wednesday, is in talks with several interested parties about a sale. Joint administrator Tony Wright expressed optimism, stating that the business has significant potential and that early interest has been encouraging.
Founded in 2020 by Calum Mackinnon and Andy Waugh, Sixes expanded rapidly as part of the competitive socialising trend, competing with brands like Flight Club. In 2023, it secured funding from 4Cast Investment Group, which includes England stars Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Stuart Broad.
While some sites performed strongly, others struggled due to intense competition and reduced consumer spending. The administrators aim to secure the best outcome for stakeholders and ensure customers can enjoy bookings through the Christmas period.
