Argos is selling the Bush Convector Heater for £25, a gadget that costs roughly 53p an hour to run and promises to bring “extra comfort” to rooms without switching on the central heating. With temperatures set to drop later this month, the retailer says the unit delivers “straightforward heating you can depend on.”
Features and running costs
Based on its 2000W power usage and the current energy price cap, the heater would cost shoppers about 53p to run for an hour. It has three heat settings and an adjustable thermostat, letting shoppers “fine-tune the temperature” in rooms.
Argos describes the device online: “When the temperature drops and you need reliable warmth without the fuss, the Bush Convector Heater delivers straightforward heating you can depend on. Its clean, simple design fits into any room without drawing attention, whilst the freestanding build and 1.5m cord mean you can shift it from the living room to the bedroom whenever you need a little extra comfort.”
Safety and customer reviews
Each appliance has a built-in safety feature that cuts out to prevent overheating as well as tip-over protection, which Argos claims is another “layer of security” and makes this “a sensible choice for busy households.” At just 2.8kg and compact enough to tuck away when not in use, it is easy to move around.
Similar devices are available elsewhere, such as Dunelm's 2000W Convector Heater (£28) and B&Q's GoodHome 2000W White Convector Heater (reduced from £39.99 to £32 on clearance). But the Argos offer has earned hundreds of rave reviews from shoppers.
One said: “Very surprised by such a small item, how quickly, even on a lower setting, it heats the rooms. Excellent value for money, easy to move from one room to another.” Another put: “I used it every day in winter and never stopped it, so I'm happy with the heater.” A third said in their review: “I am happy with it for a bit of instant heat in a cold room. Very compact and lightweight.”
Mixed feedback despite high ratings
Despite more than 630 top-rated reviews, some customers faced issues. One claims: “I didn’t like it at all It does not have enough power to heat a room It’s like nothing is switched on.” Another said: “I got this hoping to keep warm but the heat it gives out is terrible not worth it dont buy this one.”
But the majority had great things to say about the heating gadget. Another five-star rating said: “It's a great little thing that warms a room in minutes and doesn't use that much electricity.” And one more claims it has been the “best heater [they've] ever bought.”
