Aldi is launching its first-ever cocktail advent calendar, priced at £12.99, which undercuts the Moth advent calendar by more than £66. The Infusionist Cocktail Advent Calendar will land in stores nationwide from Sunday, October 25, offering 25 days of ready-to-drink cocktails from the supermarket's popular Infusionist range.
Each of the 25 windows contains a 125ml cocktail, with included favourites such as Espresso Martini, Spicy Margarita and Passion Fruit Martini. The calendar also includes chocolate truffles.
A budget-friendly alternative to premium brands
The Infusionist cocktail line has built a positive reputation over the years, and the new calendar is positioned as a 'dupe' for the Moth Advent Calendar, a premium brand whose 24-day cocktail countdown costs £79 and reportedly "sells out every year". Aldi's version offers a saving of over £66.
Alongside the cocktail calendar, Aldi is bringing back the Ballycastle Country Cream Advent Calendar on the same date, October 25. Priced at £12.99, it contains 50ml miniatures of its Irish Cream label, which serves as a budget-friendly alternative to Baileys.
Flavours and pricing comparison
The Ballycastle calendar includes Classic Country Cream, White Chocolate Cream and Hazelnut and Caramel cream, with chocolate truffles added as a new touch this year. The calendar first appeared on shelves in 2023 and has remained a consistent favourite.
For price context, a 700ml bottle of Ballycastle Classic Country Cream retails at around £5.59, while Baileys typically costs over £21 for the same size, making it almost £16 more expensive.
Growing trend of boozy advent calendars
Aldi's entry into boozy advent calendars comes as they grow in popularity among adults. Such calendars can be expensive, with Fortnum and Mason's 24-day rum countdown retailing at over £100. Aldi's Infusionist Calendar, at under £13, offers a more affordable way to join the trend, while classic chocolate calendars remain available for younger shoppers and non-drinkers.
Both the Infusionist Cocktail Advent Calendar and the Ballycastle Country Cream Advent Calendar, each £12.99, are set to arrive in stores on Sunday, October 25.
