Select Fashion is set to close another 23 high street stores by this weekend, as part of wider plans to shut 35 sites by March 15. The struggling retailer has already closed 12 stores, leaving 48 remaining after the latest closures.
Select has been closing branches over the past few years, including in Ipswich, Kent, Cwmbran and the Erith Riverside Shopping Centre in London in 2024. The fashion chain collapsed into administration in 2019 and entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) last summer, allowing debts to be paid off over a fixed period.
Before its administration, Select had 169 stores. It was later bought out of administration by Genus UK Limited. The chain first entered the British fashion scene in the 1980s and is currently owned by Turkish entrepreneur Cafer Mahiroğlu.
Other retailers have also announced closures. Yours Clothing is closing its Birmingham Bullring branch on March 15, with the nearest stores in West Bromwich and Merry Hill. Homebase collapsed into administration in November 2024, with 33 stores closing in February. Dobbies also announced more closures in February, bringing its total to 24 since October.
