A woman in Toronto has shared her excitement after discovering a Chanel handbag in a charity shop for just $10.49 (£7.80). Sydnee, who posted about her find on Facebook, initially assumed the bag was fake due to its patent leather and low price, but later found several signs suggesting it was genuine.
Sydnee said she was shopping at a new Value Village location when she spotted the Chanel bag hidden on a bottom rack. She also found a Coach bag, a Prada bag, and other items including Armani glasses and a leopard print fur coat. Despite her initial doubts, she decided to buy the Chanel bag after noticing a serial number, an embossed logo, and branded hardware—details often missing on counterfeits.
In the comments section, many viewers reassured her that the bag appeared authentic. “The Chanel is authentic 100%,” one person wrote. However, some disagreed, with one critic saying the hardware did not match up. Sydnee plans to have the bag authenticated professionally.
Charity shops in the UK and elsewhere can be excellent places to find designer bargains, as they receive a wide range of donations, including high-end items. Prices are often lower than in specialist vintage stores, and shoppers can support good causes while hunting for hidden gems.
