UK Haulage Firm K2B Transportation Enters Liquidation

K2B Transportation Limited, a family-run road haulage and freight company based in the East Midlands, has formally entered liquidation, dealing another major blow to the UK haulage sector. The firm filed for liquidation earlier this month, with liquidators appointed on June 8, 2026, and a formal notice published in the London Gazette on June 12.

Liquidators Appointed

Danielle Shore and Stephen Beverley, both of Leonard Curtis, have been appointed as joint liquidators for the business. At this stage, there is no information regarding potential job losses.

Company Background

According to Companies House, K2B Transportation was incorporated in 2020, but the company's team boasts over 40 years of combined experience in the logistics sector. The business is headquartered at Wyvern Business Park in Derby, specialising in freight transport by road, including delivery and courier services. Unlike many competitors, K2B also offers vehicle transportation services.

The company has prided itself on delivering a personalised and flexible service, adapting to customers' specific requirements. Its collapse is a significant setback for the region and the industry.

Broader Haulage Crisis

K2B's liquidation is the latest in a series of failures in the UK haulage sector in 2026. In May, Sunhill Transport Limited, a Shropshire-based freight company, appointed administrators. Earlier, ELI Group, an HGV training firm based in Bristol, also entered liquidation.

The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has previously warned that hundreds of UK haulage companies could close this year. RHA External Affairs Director David Boot told Express.co.uk: “Higher interest rates, increased regulatory burdens, and ever-rising running costs continue to make trading more expensive, sending many long-established firms to the wall. Sadly, insolvency levels may rise as the impacts of the Middle East conflict continue in the months ahead.”

Impact on the Sector

The haulage sector has faced a difficult spring, with rising operational costs, higher interest rates, and increased regulatory pressures taking a toll on even well-established firms. The RHA has stressed that insolvencies are “tipped to rise” in 2026, with many companies struggling to stay afloat.
