Affinity Packaging Ltd, a Lancashire-based packaging company that supplied major UK supermarkets including Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury's, has been placed into liquidation after breaching a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). The company, known for creating eco-friendly packaging for brands such as Swizzels, was wound up on June 17, according to The Gazette.
Liquidators Appointed
Dominik Thiel-Czerwinke and Louise Donna Baxter of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed joint liquidators by the court. The Appointment of Liquidators statement notes: "Notice is also hereby given that creditors of the Company who have not yet proved their debts, should submit their proof of debt to the joint liquidators at their correspondence address."
Breach of Company Voluntary Arrangement
Affinity Packaging entered a CVA in 2025, but the arrangement was breached. The notice of termination or full implementation of voluntary arrangement states: "The Company has failed to comply with the terms of the Company's Voluntary Arrangement, which has resulted in three notice of breaches being issued each on separate occasions." A breach was issued on March 4, 2026, for failure to make payments to HM Revenue & Customs when due. The company failed to remedy the breach within 30 days, leading to a winding-up petition filed on April 30, 2026.
Debts and Creditors
At the commencement of the CVA, the total amount owed to creditors was £2,465,901. The company worked with Swizzels, producing the 'Refreshers Original' carton since 2007, and described them as "one of our most valued and significant customers."
