Strathmore Hotels Limited, a hotel group with eight sites across England and Scotland, has entered administration. The company appointed Alistair McAlinden and James Dewar from Interpath as joint administrators.
Hotels continue trading
Guests have been reassured that all eight hotels will continue operating as usual. The administrators stated that customers are advised that all eight hotels will continue to trade while the options available are reviewed.
All 410 employees will remain in their roles during the administration process. A spokesperson for the administrators said: "All of the company's 410 employees will be retained by the administrators to support them."
Financial pressures and winding-up petition
The group had faced ongoing pressure from creditors for several months before becoming subject to a winding-up petition in July 2026. The decision was subsequently taken to appoint joint administrators, who will now examine the business and determine the best way forward.
Mr McAlinden, joint administrator and head of Interpath in Scotland, said the hospitality industry had been dealing with a series of pressures in recent years. He said: "The hospitality sector has faced a number of significant challenges in recent years, including rising operating costs, inflationary pressures, workforce shortages and changing consumer spending patterns."
Immediate priorities and customer queries
He added: "Unfortunately, Strathmore Hotels has not been immune to these headwinds and has also experienced sustained financial difficulties, resulting in the appointment of the joint administrators. Our immediate priority is to ensure continuity across the business. We recognise that this news may be concerning for employees, customers, and suppliers. However, we would like to reassure all stakeholders that it is very much business as usual across the portfolio, and we encourage guests to continue visiting the hotels as normal while we explore the best possible outcome for the business."
The administrators said customers should continue to contact Strathmore Hotels in the usual way with any queries. A spokesperson added: "Customer queries should be directed to Strathmore Hotels in the usual manner."
