UK haulage firm Q Delivery Services enters liquidation

Q Delivery Services, a family-run UK haulage and logistics company established in 2013, has entered liquidation after more than 13 years in business. The company, based in Widnes and Bedford, described itself as an "end-to-end logistics company" offering haulage and warehousing across the UK.

Company background and services

The firm is owned by Justin Young, with his son recently joining QDS to "bring a fresh perspective to help with pushing the business to new heights", according to the website. It operated a modern fleet of vehicles, offering part or full loads, next-day and same-day delivery as well as Saturday services.

The company also offered warehouse services across the nation, for both long and short-term storage, stock management and pick-and-pack order fulfilment for local deliveries. The business claimed it had become "one of the United Kingdom's premier logistics providers", promising a flexible, reliable, and professional approach to all customers.

Awards and liquidation

The company's website lists several awards it has won, including 2019 Chairman's Award for Depot of the Year (Palletforce), 2019 New Member Award (Palletforce), 2019 Brand Ambassador (Palletforce) and 2020 Motor Transport Awards finalist.

Before the liquidation, the business said: "At QDS, our aim is to continuously grow, refine our services, and supply the very best for our customers." Richard Cole and Stephen Kenny from KBL Advisory Limited were appointed joint liquidators on September 14, according to The Gazette. Records publicly available on Companies House show that the firm's most recent accounts were overdue, with the last filed documents covering the period up to January 31, 2023.

Wider industry trend

The liquidation of the company comes as no surprise as several other haulage firms across the UK have entered liquidation in recent months, due to financial difficulties. These include RP Bulk Haulage Ltd, JT Leyland Limited and CVH Transport Services.
