Salisbury Novichok Poisoning House of Ex-Russian Spy Sergei Skripal Listed for Sale
Skripal Novichok House in Salisbury Put Up for Sale

The three-bedroom detached house in Christie Miller Road, Salisbury, where former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned with the nerve agent Novichok in 2018, has been put up for sale. The property, now fully decontaminated after a year-long cleanup, is being offered with a 30% shared ownership stake for £114,000, with the option to increase ownership to 75%.

Background of the Novichok Attack

On March 4, 2018, Sergei Skripal, 67, and his daughter Yulia, 33, were found unconscious on a park bench after the deadly nerve agent was smeared on the door handle of their home. Both survived after weeks in hospital, as did Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey, who was the first responder to enter the property. However, local resident Dawn Sturgess, 44, died in July 2018 after coming into contact with Novichok from a discarded perfume bottle. Her flat was subsequently demolished in 2022.

Property History and Decontamination

Wiltshire Council purchased the house in 2021 and sold it to a local buyer in 2023 following a full refurbishment. The council retained a share to prevent the property from becoming a macabre tourist attraction. Initially, only local residents could apply, but the current listing by estate agents Carter & May states there is "no eligibility criteria." The property has been "thoughtfully enhanced" by the current occupiers, including a new front door and cosmetic exterior changes. It was listed on Rightmove on Monday without mention of its history.

Ongoing Investigation and International Warrants

Three Russian agents—Alexander Petrov, Ruslan Boshirov, and Sergey Fedotov—are wanted globally for the attack, believed to be from the GRU military intelligence service. They were captured on CCTV in Salisbury the day before the poisoning. Russia has refused to extradite them. Skripal, a former spy jailed in Russia in 2006 for passing information to MI6, was released in a 2010 spy swap and settled in Salisbury.

Cllr Ian Thorn, leader of Wiltshire Council, said: "A shared ownership opportunity at 47 Christie Miller Road is being offered by the existing leaseholders on a 30% shared ownership basis."
