Ruth Jones, best known for playing Nessa in the BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey, has put her marital home in Penarth up for sale for £1,150,000 following her separation from husband David Peet. The couple, who announced their split in June, bought the five-bedroom mock Tudor property in 2001 for £325,000, meaning they stand to make a profit of £825,000.
The three-storey home overlooks a park and features original fireplaces, tiling, and wooden floors. The estate agent describes it as a 'handsome, three-storey bay-fronted Edwardian style residence, retaining charm and character, sympathetically extended, choice position overlooking Roath Park recreation fields.' Jones had previously called the house 'my favourite place to be' and praised the kitchen as 'the best bit.'
Jones, 58, and Peet, 72, a TV executive, separated amicably 18 months ago. In a joint statement, they said: 'We amicably went our separate ways 18 months ago and are now legally separated. We remain good friends. Since our separation, Ruth is living in London and David is living in Canada, where he is in a new relationship.' Peet has since moved on with Canadian Jayne Charity Cook, 46.
The couple met in the early 1990s while filming a BBC comedy pilot. They also own a holiday home on the west coast of Scotland and previously ran a restaurant called Peet's in Lochinver. Jones was a stepmother to Peet's three children from a previous marriage. She has spoken about not having children of her own, saying: 'It just didn't happen. It wasn't a decision. I love being a stepmum — all the joy of motherhood without the pain of childbirth.'
Jones is reportedly back working with Gavin & Stacey co-star James Corden on a new ten-part comedy drama for AppleTV+, set to film in the UK next year. The pair have signed a major deal with the streaming service, according to reports.
