Cristiano Ronaldo May Sell £30m Dream Villa Over Privacy Fears
Ronaldo could sell £30m retirement villa after privacy issues

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly preparing to abandon his multi-million-pound dream retirement home in Portugal over fears for his family's privacy, just as construction has finished.

A Lavish Project Facing an Uncertain Future

According to reports from Portuguese media, the Al-Nassr forward may sell the stunning villa located in the exclusive Quinta da Marinha region of Cascais, often dubbed the 'Portuguese Riviera'. Ronaldo, 40, purchased the large plot of land in September 2022 for a sum believed to be around £30 million, with the clear intention of settling there with his family after his playing career ends.

Works on the spectacular eight-bedroom mansion are now complete. The property boasts an array of luxury features including:

  • An infinity pool with panoramic views.
  • A private underground car park.
  • A state-of-the-art private cinema room.
  • A gym, massage room, and indoor and outdoor pools.
  • A dedicated playground area for his five children.
  • Direct access to a private beach.

Further opulent details include solid gold taps, Italian marble throughout, and a specially commissioned Louis Vuitton mural. Despite this, concerns over security and a lack of seclusion are said to be driving Ronaldo's potential decision to sell.

Privacy Concerns and a Potential Wedding Venue

The core issue appears to be the property's exposure. Portuguese TV programme V+ Fama claims Ronaldo sought to buy the adjacent land belonging to the five-star The Oitavos hotel and a neighbouring golf course to create a larger, more secure buffer zone. These attempts were reportedly refused, leaving the footballer feeling the location is too accessible.

In a surprising twist, the same reports suggest the villa could still play a central role in Ronaldo's life before being sold. It is claimed the mansion might host his wedding to long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez, to whom he proposed in August 2023 after more than nine years together.

This would represent a change from earlier speculation that the ceremony would be held at Funchal Cathedral in his native Madeira after the 2026 World Cup. The villa could offer a more intimate and private setting, aligning with Georgina's reported preference for low-key events. As one source suggested, it could function as a combined wedding, housewarming, and farewell party.

Ronaldo's Property Empire and Personal Life

This Portuguese villa is the latest addition to Ronaldo's extensive global property portfolio. He also owns a £6 million penthouse in Lisbon, a home in Madeira, and has retained his mansion in Madrid's exclusive La Finca area and a luxury villa in Turin from his time at Juventus.

The football icon recently described his proposal to Georgina as improvised but heartfelt. "It was like 1am... I'm not a very romantic guy," he told Piers Morgan, revealing the moment was prompted by his children. He presented her with a ring valued at approximately £1.5 million.

Ronaldo and Rodriguez have two daughters together, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda. He is also father to son Cristiano Jr., born in 2010, and twins Eva and Mateo, born via surrogacy in 2017. The couple tragically lost their newborn son, Angel, in 2022.

While the future of the Cascais villa remains uncertain, its potential sale marks a significant shift in Ronaldo's retirement plans, underscoring the challenges of finding privacy for one of the world's most famous athletes.
