Cricket legend Michael Clarke is preparing to sell his former Sydney harbour mansion after making a substantial property investment just streets away from his current home.
Prime Property Portfolio Reshuffle
The 44-year-old former Australian cricket captain has placed his five-bedroom, five-bathroom Vaucluse property on the market after completing extensive renovations. No official price guide has been set for the European-inspired residence, which Clarke originally purchased in 2021 for $13.1 million.
Real estate experts from Domain predict the sprawling 778-square-metre home could achieve well over $20 million given its premium location in one of Sydney's most exclusive eastern suburbs and the comprehensive renovations undertaken by the sporting star.
Luxury Living Across Three Levels
The resort-style property spans three impressive levels, featuring oversized living spaces and an airy open-plan design that maximises harbour views. The luxury home includes multiple entertainment areas, a swimming pool, and a private formal dining room accessible through a grand entranceway.
The first-floor kitchen and dining spaces flow directly onto an entertainment deck, while the second storey boasts a verandah and lounge area perfect for Sydney's temperate climate. The main bedroom occupies an entire corner of the second floor and includes a walk-in dressing room, en suite bathroom, and private balcony.
Additional premium features that add to the property's appeal include:
- A private home cinema
- A dedicated study
- Multiple entertainment decks
- Spacious living areas throughout
New Acquisition Signals Property Strategy
Clarke's decision to sell comes after he secured a magnificent six-bedroom mansion nearby for approximately $20 million. The new property, located just streets away from his current home, represents a significant upgrade in both scale and amenities.
The double-brick, three-level concrete residence features six bathrooms, multiple living areas, and parking for two cars. The showpiece outdoor area includes a full-sized north-facing championship tennis court, complemented by a gas-heated pool and sun-drenched terraces.
Inside, the home impresses with a grand entry hall featuring a circular ceiling and sculptural staircase leading to both formal and casual living zones. A Calacatta marble gourmet kitchen fitted with premium Smeg and Highland appliances anchors the main level, alongside a custom cocktail bar and integrated Sonos sound system.
The lower level contains a rumpus and media zone that flows directly to the pool and landscaped gardens, complete with a dedicated gym space. Upstairs, the main bedroom suite includes a generous ensuite and dressing space, while remaining bedrooms accommodate family living and guests.
This property last sold in 2007 for $7 million and was initially guided at around $25 million earlier this year before Clarke negotiated a private treaty deal.
The cricket star's property movements demonstrate his continued investment in Sydney's premium real estate market, having previously sold his former matrimonial residence with ex-wife Kyly for $12 million.
Clarke's new neighbourhood positions him among Sydney's elite, with neighbours including radio host Kyle Sandilands and his wife Tegan, as well as former Westpac boss David Morgan and his wife, former federal minister Ros Kelly.
