ITV has confirmed that a new three-part documentary following Jamie and Rebekah Vardy will replace A Taste for Murder in the schedules next week. The series, titled The Vardys, will air across three consecutive evenings from Tuesday, June 2, to Thursday, June 4, and chronicles the couple's relocation to Italy.
The move comes after Jamie Vardy departed Leicester City following 13 years at the club to represent Italian Serie A side US Cremonese. The documentary promises no-holds-barred access to the family as they navigate the upheaval, with ITV hinting that Rebekah sees the move as an opportunity to leave the 'Wagatha' drama behind.
In 2022, Rebekah Vardy unsuccessfully sued Coleen Rooney for libel after Rooney publicly accused her of leaking private stories to the press. The High Court judge rejected Vardy's claim and ruled that Rooney's allegation was substantially true, adding that Vardy had encouraged her agent to disclose confidential information.
The official synopsis states: "As she manages the emotional and physical upheaval of the new move, she reflects on her recent challenges in the UK, intent on putting the 'Wagatha' drama behind her and focusing on an exciting new chapter." It adds: "With no-holds-barred, intimate access to the Vardys, this series follows all the drama and chaos of their new family adventure - from frantic house-hunts and tearful school searches, to unexpected disasters and dramatic setbacks."
Before The Vardys premieres, ITV airs the final episode of A Taste for Murder tonight, Thursday, May 28. The synopsis reveals: "Joe discovers a hand found in a dead shark that has links to the Mafia before he and Angelica have a blazing row about her future. As DCI Mottram comes to terms with her decision, Lara uncovers a clue that will turn his world upside down."
