Marcus Rashford has made his transfer stance clear to Bayern Munich: he will not entertain any other potential moves until he is certain that a permanent switch to Barcelona is not happening. The England international remains a Manchester United player after spending last season on loan at the Catalan club, but a permanent deal has yet to be agreed.
Rashford's Loan Spell at Barcelona
During his loan at Barcelona, Rashford featured regularly, though not always as a starter. He made 49 appearances across all competitions and scored 14 goals. As part of the loan agreement, Barcelona have the option to make the move permanent for £26 million, a fee that seemed almost certain to be triggered given his contributions to a season in which they won La Liga.
However, the Catalans have been stalling on finalising the deal. Meanwhile, they have spent nearly £70 million on Rashford's England teammate Anthony Gordon, signing him from Newcastle United. The £26 million permanent transfer clause can be triggered by Barcelona until June 15, but while Rashford remains in limbo, other interested parties have emerged.
Bayern Munich's Interest
Most notably, Bayern Munich have reportedly shown an interest in taking Rashford to Bavaria, having missed out on Gordon when he signed for Barcelona. However, Spanish publication Marca reports that Rashford is not considering any other possible moves until a Barcelona switch is definitively ruled out.
Barcelona are reportedly still keen on keeping hold of Rashford, but are exploring alternative ways to do so, including another loan deal. The forward is happy to focus on England's campaign at the World Cup and resolve his future afterwards if Barcelona do not get a deal done.
Anthony Gordon's Comments
Rashford's preference for staying at Barcelona has seemingly been harmed by Gordon's signing, but the former Everton and Newcastle man says his international teammate has been very supportive about the situation. Gordon told talkSPORT: 'He was just telling me how good the lads are there, the team spirit that they have, which I heard already from the people in Barca. So I'm really looking forward to joining up with them. He was also telling me about the city, places to live. He's a lovely guy, very caring. So he was just giving me a bit of information.'
