Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to meet Manchester United's £34.5 million asking price for Marcus Rashford, according to The Sun. However, the England international's £325,000-per-week wages remain a significant obstacle.
Rashford's Loan at Barcelona
Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, playing a key role in their La Liga title triumph. He scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists across all competitions, accepting a wage reduction to join Hansi Flick's squad. Despite his success, Barcelona appear reluctant to make the move permanent, having already spent £60 million on Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. Flick's side are now focusing on signing a striker, leaving Rashford's future uncertain.
Bayern's Interest
Bayern Munich, under Vincent Kompany, are keen to strengthen their left flank and see Rashford as an affordable option. The German champions were previously favorites to sign Gordon but lost out to Barcelona. They are also considering Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli, but he would command a higher fee. Bayern may have to offload Michael Olise to Real Madrid to facilitate a move for Rashford.
Wage Demands
Rashford's current wages are a major stumbling block, with no European club willing to match his earnings. He would likely need to accept a pay cut to secure a move, whether to Bayern or another Premier League club. Several English teams have also expressed interest in the 28-year-old.
