In a direct comparison of budget window cleaning sprays, Mr Muscle Window and Glass Cleaner proved far more effective than a white vinegar spray, removing stubborn marks instantly with no scrubbing. The white vinegar spray, despite being a versatile household favourite, needed three applications and took 15 minutes to achieve similar results.
Testing the Two Products
Nicola Roy, a writer for the Spare Time section, conducted the experiment on her kitchen windows in a high-rise flat. She used Mr Muscle Window and Glass Cleaner, purchased for £1.99 from Savers (also available at Tesco for £2.50), and Stardrops White Vinegar Spray, typically costing around £1.19 from The Range or Wilko.
Roy applied the white vinegar spray to the lower window pane, leaving it to soak for a few minutes before buffing with a cloth. After the first attempt, the glass looked almost as dirty as before. She repeated the process three times, eventually removing the marks after 15 minutes of effort.
In contrast, the Mr Muscle spray was tested on the upper pane. Applied in the same way, it removed all persistent marks with the first wipe, requiring no second treatment.
Customer Feedback
Mr Muscle holds a 4.7 out of five star rating on its website. One customer commented: "What a remarkable difference! One spray and the dirt wiped off without effort. It comes in a very easy application bottle, spray and wipe. The smell is not too strong. Very good value for the price, this bottle will last long!"
Verdict
Roy concluded that Mr Muscle was simple to apply, delivered instant results, and was worth the slightly higher cost. She plans to use it for the remaining windows in her flat, while the white vinegar spray fell short of expectations for this specific task.
