UK Property Investment Firm Prosper Capital Enters Liquidation After FCA Complaints
Prosper Capital Liquidated After FCA Complaints Upheld

Prosper Capital LLP, a Guildford-based property investment firm, has been placed into creditors' voluntary liquidation after customer complaints were upheld by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The FCA announced on July 20, 2026, that the firm entered liquidation on June 1, 2026, with Jeremy Karr and Simon Killick of BTG Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP appointed as joint liquidators.

FCA Authorisation and Complaints

Prosper Capital, an FCA-authorised firm, operated as an alternative investment fund manager and arranged property investment deals. The firm has applied to cancel its authorisation, a decision subject to FCA review. Prosper was also responsible for the activities of its appointed representative, Crowd2Let Capital Limited. The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) upheld complaints about property investments made through Crowd2Let, which led to the liquidation.

The FCA stated: "Having considered the financial position and received professional insolvency advice, Prosper stopped trading. Its designated members took steps to place Prosper into creditors’ voluntary liquidation." The regulator noted that Prosper remains authorised and under supervisory oversight until its cancellation application is reviewed.

FSCS Claims Open

On July 17, 2026, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) announced it is now open to claims against Prosper Capital in relation to Crowd2Let's activities. The FSCS said: "If you believe you have a potential claim for compensation for Prosper Capital in relation to the activities of its appointed representative Crowd2Let, you can now submit the claim using our online claim service." Claims will be assessed after an investigation to determine if they meet qualifying conditions, which may take time.

The FCA clarified that it does not regulate insolvency processes or the joint liquidators, who are regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and must follow insolvency law. The FCA is liaising with the liquidators. Affected customers can contact Begbies Traynor at prospercapital@btguk.com.
