Manchester United have identified Atalanta midfielder Ederson as the ideal replacement for Casemiro, who is set to leave the club this summer. The Brazilian, 26, has been a standout performer in Serie A and is valued at around £38.3 million, a fee United are willing to pay.
Ederson has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with United and has paused talks with other clubs to secure a move to Old Trafford. Atalanta manager Raffaele Palladino confirmed the player's potential departure, stating: 'There's something going on in the transfer market. The fact that such a player is being followed by such a big club should be a source of pride.'
United's midfield rebuild is a top priority this summer, with Ederson seen as a like-for-like successor to Casemiro. Known for his ball-winning abilities, athleticism, and box-to-box play, Ederson has drawn comparisons to Arsenal's Declan Rice and former United favourite Ander Herrera.
While Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson is also on United's radar, his £100m price tag and interest from Manchester City make a deal challenging. Ederson, however, represents a more attainable and cost-effective option for the Red Devils.
