The electricity supplier attributes this boom to heightened consumer awareness of energy security and the volatile fossil fuel markets, prompting homeowners to seek sustainable alternatives.
Innovative Technology to Reduce Household Costs
In response to this growing demand, E.On has launched a new automated service named 'Next Optimise', designed specifically for homes equipped with solar panels and battery storage systems. This technology intelligently charges batteries during periods of low wholesale electricity prices and then utilises or exports the stored energy when prices peak, aiming to significantly reduce household energy bills.
Proven Success and Government Support
The 'Next Optimise' system has already been successfully implemented in 80,000 Australian homes, demonstrating its effectiveness in insulating users from market fluctuations. In the UK, the government is backing solar power as a critical component of energy security. Energy Consumers Minister Martin McCluskey has revealed plans to make plug-in solar technology available in retail shops within the coming months, further encouraging adoption.
