Money-saving guru Martin Lewis has issued an urgent plea to 80,000 UK households who could be missing out on a staggering £3,850 in energy bill support. The financial expert warns that time is running out to claim this crucial assistance.

Through his MoneySavingExpert website, Lewis revealed that thousands of vulnerable families qualify for the Warm Home Discount scheme but haven't applied. This government initiative provides £150 off electricity bills for those on low incomes or receiving certain benefits.
Who qualifies for the Warm Home Discount?
The scheme helps two main groups:
- Core Group 1: Pensioners receiving Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit
- Core Group 2: Low-income households on certain benefits
Lewis emphasised that many in Core Group 2 haven't yet applied, despite being eligible for the discount plus additional support that could total £3,850 when combined with other schemes.
How to claim before it's too late
The application window closes soon, and Lewis is urging immediate action:
- Check your eligibility on the MoneySavingExpert website
- Contact your energy provider directly if you qualify
- Apply before the 29 February deadline
