Mike Sorrentino Hints at Future Political Run

Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino, star of Jersey Shore, has hinted at a future political career, following in the footsteps of fellow reality TV personality Spencer Pratt. During an interview with New Jersey's News 12 at the VUE Magazine spring edition party on Thursday, Sorrentino briefly opened up about the possibility of entering politics.

Sorrentino's Political Ambitions

Sorrentino expressed his desire to expand his Archangel Centers, which provide drug and alcohol rehabilitation in New Jersey. 'I'd like to save lives for the next three to five years, with Archangel Centers,' he told the outlet. 'I'd like to have an Archangel Center in every 50 states, and after that, you know, I will introduce everybody to Governor Situation.'

He did not affiliate himself with a political party but added that the 'residents of New Jersey would like no property tax.' The media personality, known for appearing on Jersey Shore and Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, serves as a spokesperson for Archangel Centers following his past struggles with sobriety and addiction.

Archangel Centers and Sobriety

Sorrentino founded the centers in partnership with Ascend Behavioral Health Network. According to the official website, he 'helps spread messages of experience, strength, and hope across rehabilitation centers, colleges, and high schools nationwide.' Earlier this month, the star reflected on being sober for 11 years while talking to People during the season nine premiere of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.

'Everyone has seemed to know and love my story, right? Thanks to this beautiful woman next to me who saved my life, I'm going on my 11th year of sobriety this year,' he said, referring to wife Lauren, whom he married in 2018. The couple are parents to three children: Romeo, five, Mia, three, and Luna, two.

'And I feel like this new chapter of me using my story to help other people,' he continued. 'You know, I now own a brand of treatment centers called the Archangel Centers where we live to help as many as we can. And I tell people all the time, like, I love being on TV, right? But I love helping people more.'

Spencer Pratt's LA Mayor Bid

Sorrentino's comments come after Spencer Pratt, known for The Hills, announced his run for Los Angeles mayor in January, on the one-year anniversary of the Palisades and Eaton Fires. Pratt made the bombshell announcement while attending the They Let Us Burn! protest in the Palisades. Primary elections are set for June 2.

Earlier this month, Pratt participated in a debate alongside Karen Bass and Nithya Raman, which boosted his chances of winning. He has received support from close friends and celebrities such as Brody Jenner, Kristin Cavallari, Joe Rogan, Scooter Braun, David Foster, and Katharine McPhee. However, others like Lisa Rinna, Jimmy Kimmel, and Hannah Einbinder have voiced differing opinions.

Pratt's Campaign Rants

On Friday, Pratt went on a lengthy X rant, calling out his opponents, incumbent Bass and Raman, for destroying Hollywood. 'Nithya did NOTHING as Hollywood fell into the abyss over the last few years, and now she wants you to believe she suddenly cares? She thinks you're dumb,' he wrote. 'Karen and Nithya treat productions like a nuisance, and they've killed our golden goose.'

Pratt promised to 'pull out ALL the stops to eliminate every lame reason that makes filming in LA a pain in the neck.' His proposal includes making permitting and parking approvals 'cheap' and 'easy,' increasing LAPD patrols in hotspots, and removing addicts and the homeless from the area. 'We need to win back these productions, and tax credits aren't enough to do it,' he wrote. 'They just need filming to be easier and safer in LA. They need LA to be nicer, and less disgusting.'

Pratt also claimed many filmmakers and agencies have left LA because it's not 'fun anymore' to live in the city. 'Even the wealthy cast members of Nithya's husband's show have moved out of CA. Nobody likes living under Nithya's leadership,' he wrote. Raman's husband, Vali Chandrasekaran, is a prominent screenwriter who has worked on shows like 30 Rock and Modern Family.

Polling and Public Concerns

Despite having the support of some of Hollywood's elite, Raman is still polling behind Pratt and Bass. The latest election poll by the California Post shows Pratt with 30.1 percent support, Bass with 29.5 percent, and Raman with 23.4 percent. However, 40 percent of voters view Raman favorably. Voters are deeply worried about the homelessness crisis in LA, as well as housing affordability, the poll found.
