E.ON Next is offering households with both solar panels and home batteries a way to save more than £600 a year on energy bills through its Next Optimise tariff. The company said the tariff charges batteries automatically when wholesale prices are low and exports stored energy when they rise, paying customers for each unit of energy not used.
The offer comes as the company reports a 151% surge in solar installations in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year.
Record installation numbers
Newly published government figures show 142,536 solar installations were added in the first six months of 2026, bringing the total in the UK to 2,075,804. That puts the year on track to beat 2025's record annual total.
According to E.ON Next, more households are turning to solar to save money and rely less on the grid. Every unit generated by their panels has a use, from powering the home immediately to selling it back through the Smart Export Guarantee or storing it in a home battery for later.
