EDF's Black Friday Deal: Get £100 Free Credit for Your EV
EDF offers £100 free credit for EV drivers

Energy supplier EDF has launched a limited-time Black Friday promotion, offering a welcome £100 account credit to electric vehicle owners. This incentive is designed to help drivers offset their charging costs.

What's the deal?

The offer is available to both new and existing EDF customers who sign up for the company's Pod Point Plug and Power EV tariff package. The crucial deadline to register is November 30, 2025, so prospective applicants need to be quick.

EDF states that the £100 credit is equivalent to approximately 4,000 miles of complimentary electric driving. This calculation is based on an EV achieving 3.5 miles per kWh and utilising the tariff's special overnight charging rate.

Package details and savings

The bundle combines a fixed-rate electricity plan with a domestic EV charger. The included Pod Point Solo 3S charger is offered at an upfront cost of £499, a significant reduction from its recommended retail price of £999.

The remaining balance for the charger is spread across the two-year duration of the electricity tariff, which EDF says provides a more affordable path to owning a home charger. The Plug and Power tariff is fixed, protecting customers from price hikes for the contract's length, and is compatible with all electric vehicle makes and models.

How the tariff works

A key feature of this package is its discounted overnight electricity rate. From midnight to 5am, customers can charge their vehicles and power their homes for just 8.49p per kWh. EDF has confirmed that this electricity is backed by 100% zero-carbon sources.

To be eligible, households must have a smart meter installed and agree to half-hourly readings. The £100 credit will be applied to the customer's account within 60 days of joining the tariff. It is important to note that cancellation fees apply if the tariff is ended before the two-year term is complete.

Rich Hughes, EDF's Director of Retail, commented on the offer: "We know cost is one of the biggest barriers for customers switching to electric, so this Black Friday we're offering customers nearly seven months of driving for free."

He added that the bundle aims to make the transition to electric driving "simpler and more affordable" by reducing the initial cost of a charger and providing cheaper overnight rates.

Interested customers can register directly through EDF's website, after which the company will coordinate with Pod Point to finalise the charger purchase.
