Wetherspoons to open six new pubs across UK in September

JD Wetherspoon is preparing to open six new pubs across the UK in September as the budget chain continues to expand its estate. The popular pub firm will open the sites as it continues to thrive despite a difficult pub landscape across the UK.

First openings in Crewe and St Andrews

The first will be The Marshfield Bank Farm House in Crewe, which is due to open on Tuesday, September 1. The pub is taking over a former Beefeater restaurant and has reportedly undergone a £1.5million refurbishment, with around 70 jobs expected to be created.

Just days later, The Red Gown will open at the University of St Andrews on Friday, September 4. The venue, named after the university’s traditional graduation robes, will operate from the revamped Students’ Association building under the Wetherspoons business model.

Manchester Airport will also welcome its first-ever Wetherspoons, with The Belle Vue opening inside the Terminal 2 departures lounge. The 338-square-metre venue will have room for more than 300 passengers.

Later openings in Dorset and Bedford

Later in the month, The Cranborne Hundred in Ferndown, Dorset, will open on Wednesday, September 16. It will occupy another former Beefeater site, previously known as The Smugglers Haunt. Finally, The Fletton Brick in Bedford is set to open on Tuesday, September 29. The pub will be located close to the planned Universal Studios theme park development.
