North Lanarkshire's Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) team has highlighted summer jobs as a potential stepping stone for jobseekers across the area. Temporary roles can also help boost a CV, demonstrate work history, experience, and a willingness to learn.
DWP Focus on Summer Employment
Shaun Cowie, DWP external relations leader for North Lanarkshire, said: "This summer, Jobcentres have focused on working with employers to increase the supply of new workers to help fill their vacancies, from sector-based Work Academy Programmes to bespoke, local recruitment events for construction and green trades."
He added: "Taking up the opportunity of a summer job can be a stepping stone for jobseekers to building lifelong skills. They offer opportunities to gain valuable practical, hands-on experience work experience, develop essential transferable skills, and potentially even explore different careers."
Benefits for Future Applications
"Temporary jobs can also boost a CV, demonstrating a work history, experience, and willingness to learn, which can be valuable when applying for future roles, including a permanent job," Cowie said.
