The Royal Yacht Britannia and its sister business, the Fingal Hotel, are recruiting hospitality servers to provide five-star customer service at their Edinburgh waterfront locations. Successful applicants will work evening and weekend shifts, with a pay rate of £13.45 per hour plus a 10% service charge.
Job Details and Requirements
Both part-time and full-time roles are available. The employer is looking for positive, enthusiastic individuals with previous experience in a busy hospitality environment. Responsibilities include greeting and guiding customers, up-selling products, taking and serving food and drink orders, and reviewing daily specials and menu changes with restaurant staff.
The Royal Yacht Britannia is described as an "award-winning, five-star visitor attraction and exclusive evening events venue in Edinburgh, which employs more than 200 staff." It was originally built in Clydebank at John Brown's Shipyard and served as the floating palace of the late Queen Elizabeth II for 44 years, travelling over one million miles. Since becoming a public attraction in 1998, it attracts over 320,000 visitors annually and was rated Tripadvisor's No.1 UK Visitor Attraction in 2025.
Work Across Two Iconic Vessels
Staff will also serve at events on the Fingal Hotel, a luxury floating hotel permanently berthed on Edinburgh's waterfront. Originally a lighthouse tender that travelled to treacherous Scottish locations, the vessel was transformed into a 23-cabin five-star hotel launched in 2019. Its Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar has been awarded two AA Rosettes.
The Food and Beverage Events team handles exclusive evening dinner and drink receptions at both venues, as well as weddings, parties, and large corporate events. Daytime work includes serving light refreshments at the Royal Deck Tearoom.
Benefits and Application
Successful applicants receive free car parking, a uniform, life insurance, complimentary tickets, staff discounts, and 33 days pro-rata annual holiday entitlement with enhanced long-service benefits. The employer contributes 10% to the pension, with an option for staff to contribute an additional 5% matched by the employer.
The application deadline is August 3, 2026. More information is available on the ASVA website.
