Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz are among the big names who have dropped in the latest ATP and WTA rankings after missing Wimbledon due to injuries. The British No. 1 Raducanu fell five places to No. 38 in the world after being forced to withdraw from the tournament on the eve of its start. She revealed that a “lower leg niggle” she had been carrying turned into a stress fracture, preventing her from competing. Meanwhile, two-time former Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz withdrew six weeks before the tournament due to an ongoing wrist injury that has sidelined him since April. As a result, Alcaraz has fallen out of the world’s top two for the first time since May 2025 and now sits at No. 3, overtaken by Alexander Zverev after the German finished runner-up at Wimbledon. Alcaraz could drop further if his wrist injury continues to keep him out of competition.
Other Players Affected by Wimbledon Performance
Raducanu had reached the third round of Wimbledon in 2025, but after being unable to take to the court this year, she dropped five spots to No. 38. This puts her outside the seeded bracket for the US Open. It is not yet known when the 23-year-old will return to competition following her stress fracture, but she is also defending 195 points for reaching the semi-finals of last year’s WTA 500 event in Washington, and has not signed up for the DC Open again this year. Alcaraz had been defending 1,300 points for finishing runner-up in SW10 last year, and his absence has cost him dearly in the rankings.
Swiatek and Siegemund Also Slip
Last year’s Wimbledon champion, Iga Swiatek, has also dropped to her lowest ranking in a year after crashing out in the third round to Alexandra Eala. The Polish star now sits at No. 8, falling five places after she was unable to defend her crown. German star Laura Siegemund had the biggest dip in the WTA rankings, falling 47 places to No. 87 after losing to Elise Mertens in round one, having reached the quarter-finals a year ago.
Men’s Rankings: Norrie, Majchrzak, and Cilic Fall
On the men’s side, Britain’s Cameron Norrie dropped nine spots to No. 38. Like Siegemund, he reached the quarters in 2025 but bowed out in the first round this summer. Kamil Majchrzak, who reached round four last year and lost in the second round, fell 21 places to No. 66. Marin Cilic, the 2017 runner-up who returned from injury to reach the fourth round last July, lost to Daniil Medvedev in round one and dropped from No. 62 to No. 88.
Big Gainers: Arthur Fery and Others Rise
But some enjoyed huge gains, especially Britain’s Arthur Fery. The SW19 local entered the tournament as a wildcard ranked down at No. 114 in the world. He had never even cracked the top 100. After storming into the semi-finals, he is now the world No. 36 and British No. 1, and will virtually be guaranteed entry into every big tournament for roughly the next year. Roman Safiullin, who came through qualifying to reach the second week, losing only to Novak Djokovic, jumped from No. 132 to No. 96. Another qualifier, Ashlyn Krueger, had the biggest rise in the WTA rankings after reaching the last 16, moving up 36 places to No. 66.
