A homeowner has shared a story of petty revenge after neighbour kids repeatedly rolled their trash bin onto his driveway. The incident, posted on Reddit, has sparked debate about neighbour disputes and bin etiquette.
The Bin Prank
The homeowner, believed to be from the US, explained that a rental property across the street houses a group of young people who often have multiple cars parked outside. He places his two trash bins in his driveway before collection day, but soon found a third bin wedged between them, with rubbish spilling out.
Checking his security cameras, he saw the neighbour kids pulling the bin across the street and placing it on his property. In retaliation, he rolled the bin to a local park. The next morning, the bin had been partially filled again and was collected by waste services, leaving the neighbours without their bin.
Reddit Reactions
The post received over 1,300 upvotes and numerous comments. One user said: 'Trashy neighbours you got there. Revenge was simple and to the point.' Another suggested throwing the rubbish over their yard, while a third recommended moving the bin far away so it would never be found.
Bin Laws in the UK
In the UK, bins must be placed at the property boundary by 6am on collection days. Unauthorised use of someone else's bin is illegal and classified as fly-tipping. Putting wrong items in recycling bins can lead to fines up to £400. Using public street bins for household rubbish is also illegal.
Residents can check collection days, order bins, and find local tips via the GOV.UK Council Finder website.
