Tragedy Strikes at Popular Crisp Factory
A man in his 60s has died in what is being described as a devastating incident at the Tayto crisps factory in County Meath, Ireland. The fatal workplace accident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, 25th November 2025, at the company's site in Kilbrew, Ashbourne.
The deceased was an employee of an independent potato supplier working at the facility. Gardai and emergency services responded promptly to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the location. His body was subsequently removed to Our Lady's Hospital Navan for a post-mortem examination.
Company Statement Expresses Profound Shock
In an official statement released following the incident, Tayto Snacks Ltd. confirmed the tragic news with "profound shock and sadness." The company emphasised that the safety and wellbeing of all personnel on site is their highest priority and pledged full cooperation with all investigating authorities.
Managing Director John O'Connor expressed that the company is "devastated by today's incident" and that their "thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues impacted by this tragic loss of life."
Multiple Investigations Underway
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified of the fatality and will conduct its own investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Gardaí are also continuing their enquiries at the Ashbourne site.
Tayto Snacks Ltd. has confirmed that the next of kin of the deceased have been informed and that the company will not be issuing any further comments while investigations remain ongoing.
