Liverpool's Morrison and Ramsay leave on loan, Reds careers likely over
Liverpool's Morrison and Ramsay leave on loan deals

Liverpool have allowed two more players to leave the club on loan deals ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

Morrison joins Sheffield Wednesday

Liverpool youngster Kieran Morrison has completed a move to League One side Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan, the club has confirmed. The 19-year-old winger made his senior first-team debut against Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Carabao Cup back in October and featured prominently for the under-21s team last season.

Manchester-born Morrison, who has been with the Reds since under-14 level, signed a new deal in May and earned his first senior international cap for Northern Ireland in June.

After completing the deal, Morrison told the Owls' official website: “It’s a massive club with great history and even better fans, so I'm glad to get it over the line, and I'm excited to play in front of everyone.

“Everyone knows that the rebuild is now and I want to be part of it. It's a great squad in a competitive league but I feel like we can do really well in this league and I want to help in any way possible.

“Henrik was speaking to me and just gave me his idea of what he wants to happen, and he sold it to me. I've just wanted it to come ever since. He wasn't really talking about my footballing ability, he was just talking to me as a person. He wants me to become a better person, so that was eye-opening because I didn't expect it from the gaffer."

Ramsay set for St Mirren move

Morrison is not the only Liverpool player to have agreed a loan deal. Right-back Calvin Ramsay has agreed to move back north of the border to play for St Mirren this season, according to reports. The 23-year-old, who was signed for an initial £4.2m from Aberdeen in June 2022, was a regular in matchday squads towards the end of last season but had little chance of forcing his way into the team.

The former SPL Young Player of the Year will be out of contract at the end of his loan deal and will be free to talk to other clubs from January. Ramsay will almost certainly not be offered a new contract at Anfield, having made only four senior appearances for the Reds since joining the club.
