Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit has warned Crysencio Summerville that he 'won't be scoring many goals' if he joins Arsenal, as the West Ham United winger prepares for a summer move following his club's relegation from the Premier League.
Summerville's expected departure and interest
Summerville, 24, is expected to leave West Ham after their relegation, with his stock rising further following impressive performances for the Netherlands at the World Cup. Manchester United are interested in the former Leeds United star as they seek a left-sided attacker for their Champions League return. West Ham are demanding £50 million for the winger, double the £25 million they paid Leeds two years ago.
Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked, with Arsenal joining the race. Mikel Arteta is keen to add another left winger to his squad after ending Arsenal's 22-year wait for a Premier League title.
Gullit's warning and advice
Gullit, who has known Summerville since youth football, urged him to choose a club that plays attacking football. 'The most important thing is that he chooses a team that suits his style of play,' Gullit told Metro. 'He needs to be at a club that plays attacking football. If Arsenal are going to win titles through corner kicks and set pieces, Summerville won't be scoring many goals.'
Gullit added: 'Tracking back and working defensively is part of modern football. If you get back into position quickly after losing the ball, you don't have to do much running. If you're always late, then you're constantly chasing.'
